Fitch believes European integrated oil and gas companies will be able to sustain robust credit metrics in the face of hurdles an economic downturn could raise, such as a reduction in demand for crude oil and greater volatility in crude oil prices than in recent years.

The European Commission has just taken a decisive step in promoting the international transport of goods by rail. EC adopted a proposal for a regulation that would involve working with Member States to designate international rail corridors providing operators with an efficient, high-quality freight transport infrastructure. This is central to Europe’s rail revival and to creating a transport system in the Community that is both efficient and sustainable.
