Fitch Ratings says that the ongoing dispute between Gazprom and Ukrtransgaz, on the terms and conditions of the transfer of Russian gas through Ukraine to European off takers, has had no immediate impact on the ratings of notes issued by Gazprom International S.A. (the Issuer).

The total assets of euro area investment funds decreased to EUR 4,713 billion at end-September 2008, from EUR 5,015 billion in June 2008. This development was mainly due to a fall in the amount outstanding of shares and other equity, from EUR 1,624 billion to EUR 1,411 billion.

In an opinion requested by the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee of the European Parliament, the EESC calls for a massive reduction of oil demand in Europe year by year over the next 40 years. The objective must be to reduce oil demand by more than 50% by 2050. the opinion is due for adoption on 14 January 2009.
