Having seen a declining trend since November, the German online job market rallied in February, adding 10 points with all sectors except banking showing more job availability. However, on an annual basis, the Index fell 57 points, or 34 percent, suggesting that employers as a whole are wary of the uncertain economic future. This correlates with INSEE's latest forecast of at least a one percent contraction in the French economy during 2009.

The Monster Employment Index UK increased by six points in February as online recruitment showed some bounce following three consecutive months of decline. Year-on-year, the Index was down 75 points, or 39 percent - the steepest annual downturn on record.
