In August, Google Sites increased its lead as the leading search property in France to 82 percent of all searches. Microsoft Sites ranked second with 2.7 percent, followed by French property Groupe Pages Jaunes (2.7 percent share), Yahoo! Sites (2.3 percent share), and another French property, Groupe Spir Communication (2.0 percent share).
Following the introduction of its French language interface in March, Facebook.com has increased its share of search queries in France to rank as the ninth most popular search property in France with 1.1 percent of searches conducted in August.
Other notable findings from August 2008 include:
· 26 million French Internet users conducted a total of 2.5 billion searches during the month.
· French Internet users conducted an average of 96 searches per searcher during the month, or 3.1 searches per day.
· French searchers made a combined total of 620 billion search visits in August, averaging 4.1 searches per search visit.
· According to comScore M:Metrics MobiLens data, 2.2 million French mobile phone subscribers used their phone to conduct at least one search via their browser, based on a three month average ending August 2008.
