Monster Employment Index France Reports Dip in Online Recruitment during July 2008
The Monster Employment Index France dropped in July by two points but remained up nine points or five percent on last year's figures. Production, manufacturing, maintenance and repair, saw the biggest drop in availability of online jobs compared to last month with a 10 percent reduction.
Sharp growth was seen in hospitality and tourism; and arts, entertainment, sport and leisure as France saw the continued effects of the summer holiday period. Year-on-year, real estate saw the largest increase in job availability among all industries, while the legal sector noted the biggest decline.
Demand rose the most for service, shop and market sales workers, offsetting some of the decline for operators and assemblers as well as elementary occupations. Opportunities in Ile de France; and South-West continued expanding while demand in Mediterranean remained steady and all other regions saw a decrease.
Summary Overview The Monster Employment Index France decreased by two points to a level of 169 in July as online recruitment activity eased slightly from last month's rapid pace. Nevertheless, the Index was up nine points or five percent on July 2007, demonstrating a sustained increasing trend in online job availability.
