Monthly changes
In March 2007, compared to the previous month, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector rose by 0.2% in the euro area and by 0.3% in the EU27. Prices in the energy sector increased by 0.6% in both zones. Intermediate goods gained 0.4% in the euro area and 0.5% in the EU27. Capital goods rose by 0.1% and 0.2% respectively. In both zones, durable consumer goods and non-durable consumer goods both increased by 0.1%.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were registered in Bulgaria (+1.4%), Greece (+1.1%) and Lithuania (+0.8%). The only decreases were recorded in Denmark (-0.7%) and the Netherlands (-0.4%). Prices in Slovakia remained unchanged.
Annual changes
In March 2007, compared to March 2006, and excluding the energy sector, industrial prices increased by 3.4% in the euro area and by 3.6% in the EU27. Prices in the energy sector rose by 0.8% in the euro area, but fell by 0.9% in the EU27. Intermediate goods gained 5.8% and 6.0% respectively. Capital goods increased by 2.0% in the euro area and by 2.1% in the EU27. In both zones, durable consumer goods rose by 2.0%. Non-durable consumer goods gained 1.4% in the euro area and 2.0% in the EU27.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were observed in Bulgaria and Luxembourg (both +7.8%), Lithuania (+6.3%) and Slovenia (+4.9%). The only decrease was registered in Denmark (-4.3%).
