Monthly comparison
In July 2010 compared with June 2010, production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.1% in both zones. Capital goods grew by 0.1% in the euro area, but decreased by 0.2% in the EU27. Production of energy fell by 0.1% and 0.4% respectively. Intermediate goods declined by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.1% in the EU27. Durable consumer goods dropped by 0.6% and 0.8% respectively.
Among the Member States for which data are available, industrial production rose in ten, fell in ten and remained unchanged in Germany and the Netherlands. The highest increases were registered in Estonia (+5.2%), Ireland (+3.2%) and Sweden (+2.6%), and the largest decreases in Finland (-3.6%), Greece (-2.5%) and Slovenia (-2.0%).
Annual comparison
In July 2010 compared with July 2009, production of intermediate goods grew by 9.2% in the euro area and by 9.5% in the EU27. Capital goods increased by 9.2% and 9.3% respectively. Durable consumer goods rose by 5.3% in the euro area and by 7.0% in the EU27. Non-durable consumer goods gained 3.6% and 3.7% respectively. Production of energy grew by 1.9% in the euro area, but fell by 0.1% in the EU27.
Industrial production rose in all the Member States for which data are available, except Greece (-8.5%). The highest increases were registered in Estonia (+24.5%), Latvia (+17.9%) and Sweden (+15.3%), and the lowest in Spain (+0.5%), Denmark (+0.9%) and Portugal (+1.0%).
