In September 2007, compared with the previous month, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector rose by 0.2% in both the euro area and the EU27. Prices in the energy sector increased by 1.0% in both zones. Non-durable consumer goods gained 0.5% in the euro area and 0.4% in the EU27. In both zones, capital goods and durable consumer goods rose by 0.1%. Intermediate goods remained unchanged in the euro area and increased by 0.1% in the EU27.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were registered in Denmark (+1.7%), Lithuania (+1.2%), Greece and Slovenia (both +1.1%). The only decreases were recorded in Luxembourg (-0.9%) and Portugal (-0.5%). Prices remained unchanged in Ireland.
Annual changes
In September 2007, compared with September 2006, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector increased by 3.1% in the euro area and by 3.2% in the EU27. Prices in the energy sector rose by 1.6% in both zones. Intermediate goods gained 4.1% in the euro area and 4.3% in the EU27. In both zones, non-durable consumer goods increased by 3.0%, durable consumer goods by 1.9% and capital goods by 1.6%.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were observed in Lithuania (+9.8%), Bulgaria (+9.0%) and Slovenia (+5.7%). The only decrease was registered in Denmark (-1.0%).
