Household Saving Rate at 14.3% in the Euro Area and 11.1% in the EU27

In the second quarter of 2007, the seasonally adjusted gross saving rate of households was 14.3% in the euro area (EA13). For non-financial corporations, the investment rate was, in the second quarter of 2007, 22.9% in the euro area and 22.8% in the EU27.

Household saving rates almost unchanged

In the second quarter of 2007, the seasonally adjusted gross saving rate of households was 14.3% in the euro area (EA13). It was 14.2% in the first quarter of 2007. In the EU27, the household saving rate was 11.1% in the second quarter of 2007, compared with 11.2% in the first quarter of 2007. The trends observed in the euro area and the EU27 have diverged since the second quarter of 2006.

Pause in the rise of the business investment rates

For non-financial corporations, the investment rate was, in the second quarter of 2007, 22.9% in the euro area and 22.8% in the EU27. In the first quarter of 2007, investment rates were 23.2% and 23.0% respectively. The peak in the first quarter of 2007 was more pronounced for the euro area than for the EU27.

Investment rate of non-financial corporations

The profit share of non-financial corporations was 39.3% in the euro area and 38.3% in the EU27 in the second quarter of 2007. In the first quarter of 2007, the share was 39.1% in the euro area and 38.1% in the EU27.
